HotChocolate

Every winter I drink a lot of hot chocolate. I would buy Dutch chocolate milk in the supermarket and just heat it up in the microwave. Having neither Dutch chocolate milk nor a microwave I had to make hot chocolate how hot chocolate is supposed to be made: by just mixing hot milk and dark chocolate. Make it this way and you’ll end up with an incredible rich hot chocolate, so much better than any chocolate milk you could buy in a supermarket. Adding a splash – or two – of liqueur could only make it taste more heavenly.

This is not really a recipe, but I’ll write it down anyway. These instructions are for 1 cup of hot chocolate.

Fill the cup you want to drink from with milk, but add a little bit less milk than you want to end up with. Pour the milk into a saucepan and let it come to a boil. Chop 50-80 g* dark chocolate of really good quality into small pieces and place them into the cup. When the milk boils pour it over the chopped chocolate and leave the two alone for about half a minute, after that you can mix them together. Now you can enjoy the amazing rich hot chocolate you just made yourself.

*Depending on how dark and strong you like it.
